The Clouds Across the Sky
With thanks to Emily Dickinson
The clouds across the sky did flee
As though they knew the land
Was wrapped and bound in winter now
And frigid with the wind
I saw their shadows, scudding, quite
Alarming on the ground
They kept me company for that
Entire Afternoon
And I wrapped up myself in thought
Then pushed that thought to Earth
I did not wait to see what I
Had built and brought to birth.
