Fried Food and New Beginnings

I ate tater tots today, in an actual restaurant. I’m not going to lie to you — it was odd.

First of all, it’s really hard to find tater tots anywhere anymore. They are a weird potato-based food, somewhere between a French fry and a latke. Their most similar cousin is probably the McDonald’s hash brown, which is a similar slab of crispy on the outside, soft on the inside potato goo.

Secondly, these were perfect. Just crispy enough on the outside, just soft enough on the inside, and hot hot hot. Crunchy, as they say, and good with ketchup.
